You Can’t Make This Sh!t Up
- Paul McCartney dated Peter Asher’s sister Jane and moved into their family home. Paul gave Peter a Beatles-rejected song called “A World Without Love.” Peter recorded it with Gordon Waller, and it hit No. 1 in the U.S. and U.K.
- Asher later worked for the Beatles at Apple Records. An unknown James Taylor played him a few songs, and Asher helped get him a record deal.
- Asher co-owned a London art gallery. In 1966, Yoko Ono had a show there. John Lennon came to see it—and that’s where Lennon and Ono first met.
