If you’ve listened to Harry Potter audiobooks in the U.S., you know Jim Dale.

He’s the voice actor of all 134 of the characters.

Below are clips of 39 of them (you can test yourself or your kid). My son got the first 11 in a row before he got bored. 🙂

Here’s Dale reading some of Harry Potter for an audience:

Jim Dale Set the Guinness Book of Records

Jim Dale performed 134 unique character voices for the Harry Potter audiobook series. That earned him a Guinness World Record for the most voices in an audiobook.

However, his record was later surpassed by Roy Dotrice, who performed 224 voices in the audiobook of A Song of Ice and Fire: A Game of Thrones.

Note: The U.K. version of Harry Potter audiobooks are voice-acted by Stephen Fry (he’s great but nowhere close to Jim Dale in versatility). I once accidentally downloaded the UK Stephen Fry version and deleted it after the first chapter.

I knew how much the Dale version was.
